![]() ![]() If it matters, the program I'm attempting to install and use is HeroLab, a character creation software I and my friends use to make Pathfinder RPG characters for our TTRPG. I've considered using VirtualBox or Gnome-Boxes, to install an extremely light-weight linux distro I know can run the software but that seems a little silly to me. Using Solus, so far my usual tricks don't seem to work at all. I'll share what they are by distro I know it works in below. I'm usually shown a message about the software not being able to update because ' gnutls' isn't installed, even when I know it certainly is! After much experimenting on my own using different distros, I've found that in addition to ' gnutls', different methods for accessing ntlm update are required. When I've tested it on multiple other distros, I end up having to install several other packages and libs to get it to work right. Whether installing through Wine itself or through Playonlinux (which is my preferred method) I also end up being unable to update the app due to the inability to utilize *ntml. ![]() I regularly use a piece of software designed for Windows that requires the *ntlm internet framework (or whatever you'd call it). If you want to remove PlayOnLinux from your system, first save the work you have done in all Windows applications, and then you can proceed to the deletion process. To check the EditPad Lite version, you can open the relevant window from the Help / About section. Once you run the note-taking software, you can start doing your work. Select the program you want to run in this interface and click Run from the tool menu, and then double-click the shortcut created from the Programs window. You can see the icon and name of the program you installed in the PlayOnLinux interface. Skip creating another shortcut and click Next. Execute the command below in the terminal to quickly download this wonderful note-taking application to your computer. One of the programs that work compatible with PlayOnLinux is EditPad Lite. playonlinux -versionĪfter installing PlayOnLinux on Debian, you can run any 32 Bit or 64 Bit EXE or MSI Windows application on your computer. When the necessary packages for PlayOnLinux are downloaded and installed, you can execute the “playonlinux –version” command to check the version in the terminal or the “playonlinux” command to run the program. If you see that dependent packages such as python should be installed as in the image below, run the “sudo apt install -f” command again and confirm the packages to be installed so that you can download and install the relevant packages depending on your repository addresses. After downloading the deb package, execute the command “sudo dpkg -i PlayOnLinux_4.3.4.deb” in the terminal to start the installation. ![]()
